Our Mission:
Going Green
Our goal is simple...
Develop and create the most environmentally responsible, high performance surfboards on the market...PERIOD!
We are constantly searching for new ways to improve our boards.
Both in how they perform, and in their environmental impact.
By teaming up with some of the most forward thinking, innovative and Earth conscious companies in the world we hope to one day create a surfboard with ZERO negative impact on our planet.
Make no mistake...we have a long way to go...
but at least now we are moving in the right direction.
"Going green for us is about doing what you can. Each of us has the ability to do simple things each day that can improve our world, and awareness is the key. At Synergy, we are doing what we can to foster awareness, and as tecnologies develop, we will be there to introduce them to the community."

As one of the world's best sustainable resources, bamboo is a hands-down choice for Synergy board construction.
Stringers, cloth, fin cores...hell, we even make shop tools out of it! Bamboo is strong, versatile and environmentally sound.
By encouraging the use of bamboo, we can combat global warming.
Bamboo can absorb 5 times more greenhouse gases than the equivalent stand of trees and can produce 35% more oxygen.
Bamboo (actually a grass) is fast growing (as much as a foot per day) and can be cut near the ground to regrow from the same roots,
making it much more sustainable than traditional hardwoods that require replanting and take up to 70 years to mature.
Bio-Foam Blanks
EPS Foam Blanks
Bio Foam is a recent innovation in the surfing industry which provides a truly Earth-conscious alternative to petroleum-based components, by replacing them with materials converted from natural plant oils. It is estimated that biofoam's production results in a 61% reduction in non-renewable energy use and 36% less global warming emissions, making it the world's best option for shaping environmentally friendly boards.
And there is no sacrifice in strength or performance...biofoam is as strong and light as any blank on the market today, and exhibits plenty of flex.
EPS foam blanks have been around for a while, but have gained more acknowledgement lately as a result of a shift away from poly-urethane. EPS is generally considered stronger and more buoyant than poly-urethane, resulting in boards that last longer and perform better (a matter of opinion, of course).
The fact that EPS does not emit VOC's (Volatile Organic Compounds) into the atmosphere when making blanks is reason enough for us to consider this a more viable blank than poly. Longer board life, keeping landfills free of more used boards is another.
Epoxy Resin
Bio-based Resin
EPOXY resin has been used for many years and is well know for it's durability and performance characteristics. It also has very low, or no VOC emissions (depending on type and manufacturer) which make it a clear choice for all of our boards.
We are experimenting with a few different epoxies, including water based epoxies.
We are utilizing some of the newest advances in Bio-based resins.
They ship zero VOC compliant, and where most resins are petroleum based, these resins are made using plant compounds making them far more sustainable.
Extraordinary strength combined with remarkable flex properties make these resins an obvious choice in the production of our boards.
We hope to one day utilize these resins exclusively.
